2012第11屆北商論壇之「應用外語教與學」學術研討會於2012年11月8日假本校行政大樓8樓音樂廳舉行，由校內外教師及研究生共發表9篇研究論文；專題演講則於下午14:20開始，由香港大學Angel Lin教授及日本東京外國語大學Yukio Tono教授蒞校演講。
講者簡介
Prof. Dr.Angel Lin received her Ph.D. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, Canada in 1996. She has since led a productive teaching and research career in the areas of classroom discourse analysis, sociocultural theories of language education, new literacies, youth cultural and media studies, critical discourse analysis, and language-in-education policy and practice in postcolonial contexts. With a rigorous training in critical sociolinguistics, classroom discourse analysis, urban and school ethnography, as well as cognitive psychology of literacy and second language acquisition, she is the first Hong Kong scholar to work on developing interdisciplinary approaches to second/foreign language education through drawing on cultural studies, new literacies studies, and language and identity research. In particular, she works on developing innovative language teaching methodologies to deal with student resistance, and to arouse young people’s interest in learning English as a language for intercultural communication and global citizenship. As an Asia-based scholar, Angel Lin is, however, internationally well-respected for her versatile, interdisciplinary intellectual scholarship in pioneering, developing and integrating different approaches to multilingual language policy and planning and second and foreign language education theory and pedagogy in postcolonial contexts. She was the first Asia-based scholar elected as Member-at-Large of the Executive Committee of the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) (2006-2009), and the only Chinese scholar from Hong Kong invited to serve on the Editorial Board of TESOL Quarterly, one of the most prestigious research journals in the discipline of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and an SSCI Journal with a manuscript acceptance rate of only 8%. She was also the first Hong Kong and Asia-based scholar invited to serve as a Guest Editor for a Special Issue in TESOL Quarterly published in the winter of 2006. Her research leadership and international impact are also reflected in her presence on the editorial boards of a number of international research journals in the field, including Linguistics and Education (as Associate Editor from 2006-2011), Language and Education, Applied Linguistics, Pedagogies, Critical Discourse Studies, Pragmatics and Society, Critical Inquiry in Language Studies, British Educational Research Journal and International Journal of Bilingual Education & Bilingualism.
