本系97年度技專校院提升學生外語能力計畫[Kuso北商，Fun英文！]通過審核。

MoE has approved and awarded a grant to “Kuso NTCB, Fun English,” a project proposed by Applied Foreign Languages Dept. (AFL) for helping students to boost foreign-language proficiency.

本系外三甲唐立城同學由本校推薦，榮獲全國大專優秀青年，並由縣市機構公開表揚。

Congratulations!   Mr. Tang Li-Cheng from Class A Grade 3 of AFL five-year program was recommended by the College to run for the election of “Outstanding College Student” and won the title.  His hometown government will hold a ceremony to commend this great achievement.

本年度暑期重修班開課時間：上學期課程自97年6月30日(星期一)；下學期課程自7月9日(星期三)起上課。請同學多加注意。暑修預訂日程如下表：

The first semester of the summer course is scheduled to start on June 30 (Monday) and the second semester on July 9 (Wednesday). The important dates are as follows:

看起來會不會像是你說的話會經常引起爭執呢？對於表達請求時你感到困擾嗎？如果你會有此困擾，或許是別人認為你的英語不夠禮貌罷了。藉由這些絕佳指南來讓你避免莽撞的言語！

Can you pass me...? 與Give me...之間-人都不喜歡聽其使喚，有時在不引起困擾下是困難的，因此獲取你個人的需求 ，利用一些句子來取代命令式的話語，像是「Give me the newspaper」，而請求的句子像是「Can you pass me the newspaper?」

Could you give me five minutes? 與 Go away.之間-你正忙碌於你的工作，但是你的同事需要你的幫忙…當你也在忙碌不能分心的時侯，只說「Go away」絕對是不適當的。可以用使人愉快的句子像是「Could you give me five minutes?」

Excuse me. 與 Move.之間-告訴某人「Move out of the way」是非常粗魯的，並且給你負面反應。如果下一次某人對你說：「Excuse me」將會有意想不到的結果是你不會想要與他爭執！

I'm afraid I can't. 與 No.之間-對於表示拒絕一位朋友的邀請常會是很困難的。簡單的一句：「No.」將視為是不禮貌的。下一次當你要拒絕某人的邀請，並且避免一些爭執你可以這樣說：「I'm afraid I can't.」

I would like... 與 I want...之間-使用「I want」這個字來請求通常被視為是很粗魯的。你可以這樣說：「I want a cup of coffee」，你也可以改口告訴服務生說：「I’d like a cup of coffee, please」。你將同時得到咖啡與微笑的享受！

Would you mind...? 與 Stop it!之間-某人做了某些你不喜歡的事情的時候，如果很莽撞呢？你會想要阻止嗎？為了獲得美好的結果，你可以禮貌性的這樣說：「Would you mind not using your phone in the cinema, please?」而非說：「Stop talking on your phone in the cinema!」

Can you hold, please? 與 Wait.間-選擇正確的禮貌電話用語在有話題及沒話題之間可產生兩種不同情況。如果打電話的人要找某人，千萬不要說：「Wait」。你可以這樣說：「Can you hold, please?」
